Curtis JN-4 “Jenny”
-
This has been a long 1.5 year building project, starting with a Proctor kit. It is 1/6 scale, has an 87 inch wingspan, and has a 3D printed Curtiss OX-5 engine (thanks to Scale RC Engines.com). The rigging is functional and includes 68 brass turnbuckles. It is powered by an electric motor running on two (2) 4S 3200mAh 50C LiPo batteries and has a sound system to give it the appropriate sound of a WWI era 90 degree V-8 engine. The cockpits are complete with seats, instruments, throttle controls, joy sticks, and floor mounted rudder bars.
For me it is quite a beautiful sight in the air. While it is not particularly acrobatic, it has performed (slow) loops, rolls, split Ss and Immelmans.
I continue to add scale details.
